COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Junior right-handed pitcher Hunter Parsons tossed a complete game as the Maryland baseball team defeated Bryant, 5-3, at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The Terrapins (9-6) and Bulldogs (3-9) played a back-and-forth affair that saw both teams hold leads in the contest. Senior Zack Jancarski and junior Nick Dunn both notched three hits to lead Maryland’s offense.

After Bryant manufactured a run in the second, Maryland tied the ball game in the bottom half of the inning. Senior Will Watson was hit by a pitch, stole second and then moved to third on a Ty Friedrich single. Watson would come in to score on a Jancarski grounder.

Parsons settled in after the run and retired nine straight until Bryant was able to grab a run in the sixth. The Terps then took the lead in the seventh. Marty Costes drove in a run on a grounder that scored Jancarski and AJ Lee singled with two down to plate Dunn. Jancarski had reached on a single, while Dunn had doubled.

Bryant responded with a single run in the top of the eighth to tie it before the Terps took the lead for good in the bottom half. Jancarski singled up the middle before Dunn followed suit with a single of his own. Costes then drove in Jancarski with a single through the right side. With Dunn at third, Kevin Biondic lifted a fly ball that was deep enough to score the Terps’ second baseman and give Maryland a 5-3 lead.

Parsons threw his complete game in 102 pitches and was efficient throughout his outing that saw him allow just two earned runs and strike out four. Parsons allowed just a single extra base hit on the day.

Maryland returns to the field Tuesday at Delaware. Action is set to begin at 3 p.m. and fans can listen to the action live on the Maryland Baseball Network
