As a team, Maryland earned a total score of 888 (297-294-297), and topped Big Ten foe Penn State and Kentucky. The Hurricane Invitational was played at the Biltmore Golf Course.
"We keep improving this spring and that is how we keep building confidence for the rest of the season," head coach Diana Cantu. "Our freshmen did well with the course and managed to pull the team to another top 5 finish. I believe there is more for this team, we just need to keep improving, learn from our mistakes, and adjust.
The whole team is very proud of Virunpat's performance this week. She shot under par for the entire tournament and had her first top 10 finish of her collegiate career. Virunpat is the perfect example of 'hard work pays off.' She comes to practice early and leaves late consistently. She absolutely deserves the success she had this week and I'm sure she will continue her great play this season."
