ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Senior David Kocher of the Maryland men's golf team was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week Wednesday for the third time in his career.
Kocher went 11 strokes under par to win Auburn's Tiger Invitational Tuesday in Opelika, Ala. Kocher (Charlotte, N.C.) shot a combined score of 205, after shooting a 67 in Sunday's first round, then 69 in the second and third rounds.
This is his second collegiate individual title, after winning the Firestone Invitational in 2015. As a team, the Terrapins finished fifth of 17 teams. They went just two strokes over par total, with a combined score of 866 (292-286-288).
Kocher earned Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors on Feb. 24, 2016 and April 19, 2017. He earned All-Big Ten Team honors in 2015 and 2016, and was named to the All-Big Ten Tournament team last year.
Next, Maryland will compete in the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate April 9-10 in Nashville, Tenn.
