Terps Eye a Podium Finish after Day 2 in Miami

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Maryland women’s golf team finished the second round in the Hurricane Invitational Tuesday at the Biltmore Blue Course in Coral Gables, Florida.

As a team, the Terrapins shot six over par Tuesday for a score of 294. They shot a 297 yesterday in the first round. They are currently ranked fourth out of 13 teams.

Freshman Charlotte Lafourcade shot the low round for the Terps today with an even-par 72, placing her tied for 16th and three over par through two rounds. Fellow freshman Virunpat Olankitkunchai shot a three-over-par 75 after shooting a 69 yesterday, placing her tied for seventh and even through two rounds.

Freshman Laura Van Respaille shot a one-over-par 73 today, putting her at five over through two rounds and tying her for 25th. Juniors Ludovica Farina and Ludovica Scandroglio shot a 74 and a 77 today, respectively. Senior Kavita Sehmi shot a 78.

The Terrapins are competing against host Miami, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Barry, Coastal Carolina, Mercer, Middle Tennessee, Florida International, South Dakota State and South Florida.

The Terrapins placed eighth out of 13 teams when they last played at the Moon Golf Invitational in Melbourne, Fla. Junior Ludovica Farina led the Terps with a 220 (75-72-73), which was a +4 overall. She finished tied for 15th in the individual standings.
