MELBOURNE, Fla. -- The Maryland women's golf team finished their final round at the Moon Golf Invitational Tuesday at the Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, Florida.
As a team, the Terrapins finished eighth out of 13 teams. They went 29 strokes over par with a score of 893 (300-294-299). The team totaled 43 birdies through three rounds of play, tied for the most among the 13 teams.
“I saw big improvements from our last event,” Head Coach Diana Cantu said. “Our games are consistently improving and the team gained more confidence from this week to build on our next tournament in Miami.
“Weather conditions were challenging this week which will only help our team preparing for the rest of the season.”
Junior Ludovica Farina led the Terps with a 220 (75-72-73), which was +4 overall. She tied for 15th in the individual standings. She shot -1 on par threes, tied for third among the field.
“Ludovica Farina played consistently well at this event, which is nice to see from our junior,” Cantu said.
Freshman Laura Van Respaille tied for 26th with a 224 (74-75-75), which was +8 overall. She tied for 26th in the individual standings.
Junior Ludovica Scandroglio tied for 35th with a 227 (76-74-77), which was +11 overall.
Freshman Charlotte Lafourcade tied for 40th with a 228 (75-78-75), which was +12 overall. She tallied 12 birdies, second most among the field, and shot -6 on par fives, tied for second
The Terps return to the course Monday, March 5 to compete at the Hurricane Invitational in Coral Gables, Florida.
