COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland’s Audrey Barber earned the Big Ten’s Co-Gymnast and Co-Freshman of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday.
Barber recieved the honors after she recorded podium finishes in all five events, helping the Terps post a season-best score of 196.575 to defeat Brown, William & Mary and Rutgers.
This is the freshman’s first career Gymnast of the Week honor and claims Maryland’s first Gymnast and Freshman of the Week awards.
Barber displayed strong performances throughout the meet, finishing at the top of the podium on bars (9.900), vault (9.875) and in the all-around (39.475), took second on floor (9.850) and third on beam (9.850), posting career-high scores in the all-around, beam, bars and vault.
Barber and the Terps are back in action this Sunday at 2 p.m. as they travel to face West Virginia.
