RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico -- The Maryland women's golf team finished the first round in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic Sunday at the Rio Mar Country Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
As a team, the Terrapins went 18 strokes over par Sunday for a score of 302. They are currently ranked sixth out of 11 teams.
Freshman Charlotte Lafourcade led the Terps with an even performance today, putting her in a tie for second on the individual leaderboard.
Sophomore Xiaolin Tian shot a +3 round of 74, putting her in a tie for 14th on the individual leaderboard. Junior Ludovica Scandroglio shot six strokes over par with a 77, Freshmen Laura Van Respaille and Virunpat Olankitkunchai both shot nine over, and junior Ludovica Farina shot an 83.

The Terrapins are competing against No. 3 Arkansas, No. 14 Colorado, No. 18 Kent State, No. 19 Purdue, Iowa State, East Carolina, North Carolina St., TCU, Augusta
Maryland’s women’s golf team finished eighth out of 14 teams when they played in the fall season finale last October at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational in San Antonio, Texas. Laura Van Respaille led the Terps with a 221 (75-73-73), which was a +5 overall. She finished tied for 28th in the individual standings.
