MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Former Maryland football all-time great Torrey Smith ('10) captured his second career Super Bowl title when the Philadelphia Eagles outlasted the New England Patriots, 41-33, in Super Bowl LII on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Smith is the fourth former Maryland player to win multiple Super Bowls as he also won Super Bowl XLVII as a member of the Baltimore Ravens. Tom Brown (Green Bay Packers - Super Bowl I, II), Neal Olkewicz (Washington Redskins - Super Bowl XVII, XXII) and Darius Kilgo (Denver Broncos - Super Bowl 50; New England Patriots - Super Bowl LI) are the only other former Terps to win multiple titles.

Smith, who just completed his seventh season in the NFL, joins Kilgo as the second player from Maryland to claim Super Bowl Championships with multiple teams.

Smith ranked second amongst Eagles wide receivers with five receptions for 49 yards in the thrilling win. Smith, who posted five receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown in the NFC Championship Game, ends his first season in Philadelphia with 49 catches for 587 yards and three touchdowns.

Another former Maryland great also played a large part in the Eagles claiming the Lombardi Trophy for the first time. Frank Reich (’84), in just his second season as Philadelphia’s offensive coordinator, helped the Eagles score the eighth most points all-time in a Super Bowl game. Reich earns a Super Bowl win after being on the losing end in four as a player (1991-94) and one as an assistant coach (2009).

A former Terp has been on the winning side of the Super Bowl in four straight and six of the last seven seasons. Kilgo earned a Super Bowl ring last season as he was a member of the New England Patriots practice squad. Kilgo and Vernon Davis garnered rings the prior year when the Denver Broncos won Super Bowl 50. Defensive End Joe Vellano helped New England win Super Bowl 49.
