COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland junior second baseman Nick Dunn was named to Baseball America’s preseason All-America third team, the publication announced Monday. Baseball America’s honor is Dunn’s second of the preseason; he was named a preseason third-team Perfect Game All-American earlier this month.
Dunn started 61 games in 2017, batting .261 with 13 doubles and a career high five home runs with 32 RBIs and 40 runs scored. He had another sensational summer in the Cape Cod Collegiate Baseball League, earning All-League and playoff Co-MVP honors. He led the Brewster Whitecaps to the Cape Cod title and batted .333 with seven doubles for the summer.
The Sunbury, Pa., native was named a Cape Cod All-League selection in the summer of 2016 after a freshman year that saw him named a freshman All-American.
Maryland opens its season February 16 at Tennessee. The Terps are coming off their third NCAA Regional appearance in the last four seasons and will be led this season by first-year head coach Rob Vaughn.
