COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland women's gymnastics team is back in action Thursday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. as they welcome Iowa, its third Big Ten opponent, to the XFINITY Center. The meet will be aired on the Big Ten Network and live streamed on BTN2Go.
The GymTerps are coming off their first conference victory of the 2018 season, winning 195.500-195.025 to mark Maryland's second-ever win over Penn State and first since joining the Big Ten.
Iowa is currently undefeated in the Big Ten and holds a conference record of 2-0 after defeating both Michigan State and Ohio State.
Iowa earned its first conference win of the season by defeating Michigan State, 193.375-192.900, in an away-meet at East Lansing, Michigan. Junior Maria Ortiz won the vaut title with a 9.775, junior Sydney Hogan took home the beam title with a 9.850 and the team registered 12 top-three finishes.
The GymHawks notched their second consecutive Big Ten victory with a 195.725-195.300 win over Ohio State at in their home opener where the team registered season highs in every event.

Iowa is ranked fourth in the Big Ten Conference and No. 42 nationally. As a team, the GymHawks rank 28th on floor (48.908 average), 37th on vault (48.733), 39th on beam (48.500), and 55th on bars (47.892).
The GymTerps have an overall record of 4-3 and conference mark of 1-1. Maryland is currently ranked No. 35 in the nation and No. 6 in the Big Ten. Nationally, the Terps are ranked 26th on beam (48.775 average), 38th on bars (48.467), 40th on vault (48.700), and 44th on floor (48.617).
