COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland men’s golf team will welcome two signees to the program next fall in Dillon Brown (Halifax, Mass.) and Will Koras (Lutherville, Md.).
Brown played four years of golf at Silver Lake Regional High School, where he was the 2017 Patriot League Golf MVP. He made the Patriot League All-Star Team four times and set the school record for all-time low score with a five-under mark.
He won the 99th Massachusetts Junior Amateur title in 2017 and qualified for the 2018 USGA Four Ball Championship. He also won the FCWT Open at Red Tail.
“Dillon is a great player from the Boston area” head coach Jason Rodenhaver said. “He shoots a lot of low numbers. He had a great summer with a couple of individual wins. I’ve had teammates and former players from the New England area, and they’re all very tough competitors. Dillon fits the mold. I look for him to play from the jump.”
Koras played four years of golf and two years of football at Loyola Blakefield. In 2016, he finished second in the MIAA Individual Tournament and earned All-MIAA Golf Team honors in his first three seasons.
He earned two top five finishes in the AJGA Tournaments.
“Will is very athletic player from the Baltimore area,” Rodenhaver said. “When I found out he was the starting quarterback at Loyola, it caught my attention. Playing the most scrutinized position in sports told me he’s a great leader and a mentally tough kid. As I said earlier, he’s very athletic and has strong hands. He has a very bright future with us.”
The Terrapins will open their spring season at the Big Ten Match Play event Feb. 9-10 in Hammock Beach, Fla.
