COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland gymnastics team opens the 2018 season in the Little Boston Invitational Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The GymTerps will face New Hampshire, Towson and Temple at the Hynes Convention Center.

Sophomore Alecia Farina and freshman Audrey Barber were selected as Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch last month. The 2018 Terps debuted at the team's annual Red-Black scrimmage last month, where the young roster showed consistency.
In addition to Farina, Maryland returns sophomore Kirsten Peterman as the team's all-around competitors from last year. The duo qualified for NCAA Regionals as just freshmen last season.
Up next, the Terps travel to Minnesota next Saturday, Jan. 13, to face the Gophers, Winona State and Northern Illinois. Maryland hosts Penn State in the team's home opener on Friday, Jan. 19.
At least six of the GymTerps' meets will appear on Big Ten Network platforms this season. Maryland will appear on the Big Ten Network when the Terrapins host Iowa on Thursday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. All other home meets will be live streamed on BTN Plus.
The Terps feature one of their strongest freshman classes, including Audrey Barber, Collea Burgess, Emilie LeBlanc, Sabriyya Rouse and Karrie Thomas. Barber and Thomas were both members of the Junior Olympic National Team.
Maryland competes in the Big Ten, one of the toughest gymnastics conferences. The Big Ten currently has six teams ranked in the preseason Road to Nationals Preseason Poll: No. 7 Michigan, No. 9 Nebraska, No. 20 Iowa, No. 22 Ohio State, No. 23 Illinois and No. 25 Penn State.
