Meet the Terp: JoJo McRae

JoJo McRae comes to Maryland by way of  Lucas, Texas after finishing as a three-time All-American at Lovejoy High School. Sshe broke school records in career batting average (.616) and stolen bases (131), while also earning First Team All-State and All-Region honors. Get to know JoJo McRae.  

How is your first semester at Maryland?

My first semester is going very well, it’s been an easy adjustment and the team has become my family.

What attracted you to the University of Maryland?

The University of Maryland is a beautiful campus, and it’s rich in history. It opens up many opportunities, and has great academics. Coach Wright was also a big factor in my attraction to the university.

What is your favorite memory from playing softball?

My favorite softball memory so far was my high school team's 2015 playoff run where we ended up playing a game until 3am.

How has it been getting to know your teammates?

Getting to know my teammates has been a huge joy. It’s fun to learn about everyone’s background and they’ve formed a very welcoming family environment.

Are you a good cook, what's your favorite thing to make?

I love to cook, but I usually find myself baking all types of different treats!

What is your favorite thing about yourself?

My joy for the Lord

What is the best vacation you have ever been on?

Summer 2017 when my best friends from kindergarten along with all of our moms took a girls trip to mexico before all heading separate ways for college.

If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be?


What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

I enjoy going to church, hanging out with my friends, sleeping, and shopping

World series baseball game
