COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Outside hitter Erika Pritchard was selected as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

In a four-set match against Ohio State last Wednesday, the Middletown, Md., native had 10 kills, five digs and three blocks.

In a sweep over Northwestern, Pritchard had 15 kills while hitting .500. She added two solo blocks, including the match-winning point.

Pritchard led the Big Ten this season with 0.42 aces per set and 48 total service aces. She ranked second on the team with 2.93 kills per set.

Pritchard is Maryland’s third Big Ten Freshman of the Week after Gia Milana (2016) and Angel Gaskin (2015).

Maryland hit numerous program milestones this season as the squad finished with an 18-14 record. The 18 wins are the most for the team since 2010, and seven conference wins are the most for the squad since joining the Big Ten. It was the first time the Terps finished above .500 since 2012. The Terrapins began the season with 10 straight wins, the best start to a season for the program since 2005. Maryland upset two top-25 teams this year, earning the program's first-ever wins over Southern California and Purdue.
