Terps Announce 2018 Schedule

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The reigning NCAA Champion Maryland women’s lacrosse team will once again have one of the toughest schedules in the nation as the Terps take on nine ranked opponents in 2018. Head coach Cathy Reese announced the program’s spring slate on Thursday.

“We’re really excited to start competing in the spring,” Reese said. “We have a tough schedule in front of us this year, and we’re ready for the challenge. The team had a great fall, and I think they’ll be really fun to watch in 2018.”

The Terrapins will take on No. 3 Penn State, No. 5 North Carolina, No. 7 Princeton, No. 9 Florida, No. 10 Syracuse, No. 12 Penn, No. 13 Northwestern, No. 14 Virginia and No. 15 James Madison. Maryland finished the 2017 season as the top-ranked team.

Maryland opens the season at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse complex on Feb. 11. The Terps hit the road for two top-five matchups at Florida on Feb. 17 and North Carolina on Feb. 24.

The Terrapins return home to face UMBC (Feb. 28) and Hofstra (March 3).

The Terps have a three-game road trip at Syracuse (March 11), Hopkins (March 17) and Penn (March 21).

Maryland hosts James Madison in March 24 before taking on Georgetown at home on March 28. After a trip to Michigan on March 31, the Terps host Virginia (April 4) and Rutgers (April 7).

The Terrapins finish their road schedule at Princeton on April 10 and at Ohio State on April 15.

Maryland hosts its final two regular season games of the year: Penn State (April 19) and Northwestern (April 26).

The Big Ten Tournament will take place from May 3-6 in Ann Arbor, Mich. The NCAA First and Second Rounds will be hosted at campus sites from May 11-13 and the Third Round will take place on May 19. The Final Four will be hosted at Stony Brook from May 25-27.

The Terps finished the 2016 season with a 23-0 record and won the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles en route to the program’s 14th national title. Maryland returns nine starters from the 2017 season, including All-Americans Megan Whittle, Megan Taylor, Kali Hartshorn and Julia Braig. The Terps also welcome the third-ranked freshman class.
