COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland men’s soccer team earned a bid to the 2017 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championships Monday afternoon, and will play host to Albany on Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Ludwig Field in the opening round.
The Terrapins (10-5-3) have now advanced to the postseason in 17 consecutive years and are making their 37th NCAA Tournament appearance in school history. Maryland has won three national championships (1968, 2005, 2008) and have reached the round-of-16 in 18 of the last 23 years.
This year’s Terps are led by Big Ten Midfielder of the Year Eryk Williamson, along with All-Big Ten selections Donovan Pines and Jake Rozhansky. With a victory in the first round, the Terps would take on 10th-seeded Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Mich., at the WMU Soccer Complex.
The 2017 College Cup is set for December 8-10 at Talen Energy Stadium in Philadelphia.
