Maryland Signs Four in 2018 Class

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Head coach Julie Wright of the Maryland softball program announced the addition of four future Terrapins who signed National Letters of Intent to play at the University of Maryland next season.

"I am very excited about the athleticism of this year's class,” said Wright. “They are strong, they can run, but most importantly they are incredible young women with solid character, amazing work ethic, and a champion's mindset. We are thrilled to have these young women join our Terp family."

The class of 2018 will bolster an already talent-rich roster next year for Maryland, as Wright begins her third season at the helm for UMD in the spring. Below is a look at each signee.

Before Maryland

Four-year starter at Arcadia High School …Totaled 119 hits, 105 RBIs and 107 runs through three seasons at Arcadia…helped lead team to three state playoff appearances and third place overall finish at 2016 Arizona High School Championships…2017 First Team All-Northeast Valley Region…Two-time Arizona All-Section honoree…2016 Scottsdale All-City Honoree…2015 Scout All-American & Offensive MVP…Honor Roll…student-athlete tutor…volunteer coach for junior high and youth softball leagues.

Before Maryland

Two-time All-Empire League selection at Cypress High School…2017 First Team All-Empire selection…2016 Second Team All-Empire selection…hit .357 with a .387 OBP…2016 Northwood All-Tournament Player…helped lead club team Corona Angels to 2016 TCS Cals Finest Championship…team took second in 2017 Sacramento Qualifier…French club…Unicef Club volunteer.

Before Maryland

Helped lead club team to 2017 USA Elite Select World Fastpitch Championship…club team won 2015 PGF 14u Premier National Championship…2016 and 2017 first team all-league selection…scholar athlete selection in 2016 and 2017…2017 Third Team All-County…also played basketball.


"Taylor is a smart ballplayer who has been playing at a high level for a long time.  Her quiet competitiveness lends itself to her consistent routine play.  She is multi-dimensional and is going to have an outstanding career in the B1G.  We very excited for Taylor and her family to join us."


Before Maryland

Four-year starter at Lockport Township High School...2017 First Team All-State, All-Conference and all-area selection…finished with zero errors behind the plate after 2017 season…hit .460 and led team in walks in 2017…top-three in RBIs and top-three in OBP...oldest sister played softball at Iowa State and other sister played softball at Kansas…won 16u PGF National Championship in club ball.
