HOLLYWOOD, S.C. – The Maryland men's golf team finished its fall season strong, ending up third out of 11 teams at The Battle at Stono Ferry Saturday in Hollywood, S.C.
The Terps went six strokes under par as a team overall with a score of 858 (288-279-291). In their five events this fall they went 54 strokes under par overall.
Senior David Kocher finished third in the individual standings with his career-best score of 203 (68-68-67), which was -13.
“This was a great week for David Kocher and the team,” head coach Jason Rodenhaver said. “We finished the fall 54 strokes under par, which I believe is a school record by far. We have a solid spring schedule waiting for us. We will enjoy a little time off before we get back after it in January.”
The teams competed at The Links at Stono Ferry, which is a par-72 that covers 6,898 yards.
The Battle at Stono Ferry is in its inaugural year as Hurricane Irma cancelled The Invitational at The Ocean Course on Sept. 11-12 at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort on Kiawah Island, S.C.
Maryland will open its spring slate at Big Ten Match Play Feb. 9-10 in Hammock Beach, Fla.
