COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Sophomores Kaila Charles and Stephanie Jones both finished with 27 points as Maryland cruised to a 130-61 exhibition victory over Glenville State Sunday afternoon. The game was the Terrapins’ first opportunity to compete in game action after previously getting time on the court this summer when the team played in the World University Games in Taiwan.
The Terps raced out to an 18-4 lead after the first media timeout, and never looked back as the hosts continued to convert open looks and fast break chances. Maryland held a 67-16 edge at the break.
Six different Terrapins would finish in double figures on the day, including freshman Channise Lewis in her first career game at the XFINITY Center. The Miami, Fla. native totaled 13 points and a game-high seven assists, while junior teammate Brianna Fraser grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with 16 points.
The Terps will play another exhibition against Bowie State on Friday, November 3 at 6:00 pm at the XFINITY Center. Admission is free.
Maryland will officially open its 2017-18 season on Friday, Nov. 10 vs. NCAA Tournament team Albany. The Terrapins and the Great Danes will tip off at 7 p.m. at the XFINITY Center. Later that weekend, Maryland will welcome 2017 NCAA Champion South Carolina to College Park on Monday, Nov. 13. For tickets, visit the Terrapin Ticket Office online here or call 1-800-IM-A-TERP.
