BLACKSBURG, Va. – Headlined by two doubles teams reaching the semifinals, the Maryland women’s tennis team concluded a successful weekend at the ITA Atlantic Regional Tournament at Virginia Tech on Monday.
The Terps were paced by the success of its doubles duos, with the pairings of Eva Alexandrova and Ekaterina Tour, and juniors Arnelle Sullivan and Millie Stretton, both reaching Monday’s semifinal round. The two pairings were both ousted by doubles teams from Virginia.
Alexandrova also found success in singles in her collegiate debut this weekend. The Moscow native advanced to the quarterfinals of the singles bracket before falling to the top overall seed in the tournament, Rosie Johanson of Virginia.
Fellow freshman Zoe Kulkarni also picked up a singles win, upsetting the No. 3 seed in the tournament in the backdraw on Friday.
Maryland will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 27 when it heads to Lawrence, Ks. For the Kansas Invitational.
