Maryland in Third at Pinehurst Challenge

PINEHURST, N.C. – The Maryland women’s golf team currently sits third out of 19 teams after the first two rounds at the Pinehurst Challenge on the Pinehurst No. 1 course in Pinehurst, N.C.

The Terrapins own a team score of 571 (285-286), which is five strokes under overall. They are four strokes behind Coastal Carolina and five strokes behind East Carolina, which leads the field.

Sophomore Xiaolin Tian leads the Terps with her score of 140 (71-69), which is -4. She is tied for sixth in the individual standings. Freshman Laura Van Respaille is tied for ninth with her three-under score of 141 (68-73).

Junior Ludovica Farina and freshman Virunpat Olankitkunchai are one stroke over par after the first 36 holes. Farina earned her 145 with scores of 72-73 and Olankitkunchai shot a 74 in the first round and a 71 in the second.

Freshman Charlotte Lafourcade earned a score of 157 (81-76).

The Terrapins will play in the final round Tuesday. Live scoring will be available here. The Pinehurst No. 1 course is a par 72.
