COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Maryland baseball and softball programs, in partnership with Ripken Baseball and Under Armour, hosted a clinic for local youth in the College Park area prior to Maryland football’s game vs. Towson.
“It was awesome to get out here with these kids who really want to play and learn the game,” said senior Zach Jancarski. “The energy was awesome, everyone was flying around and having a good time. It was fun to be a part of for sure.”
Participants received t-shirts and one-on-one instruction with members of the Maryland baseball and softball teams, while playing a series of games and stations organized by the Ripken Baseball staff.
Afterwards, the student-athletes and kids enjoyed lunch at the XFINITY Center, while listening to presentations from team representatives. Student-athletes then led a tour for the group across campus, ending at Maryland Stadium to see the Terps take on the Tigers.
“It was a fun day,” said junior Sami Main. “It was great to give back to the community playing the game that we love.”
