COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Three members of the Maryland men’s golf team earned Big Ten Preseason honors this week. Sophomore Peter Knade earned his first honor, junior Timothy Colanta earned his second and senior David Kocher was honored for the third straight season.
Knade competed in every tournament for the Terrapins last season, earning two top-20 finishes. He led the Terps and tied for fifth at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate last year. He went -1 with a 141 on the event.
Colanta played in all 11 tournaments last season for Maryland, finishing in the top 10 twice and the top 20 five times. In his best outing of the year, he tied for seventh in the Janney VCU Shootout last fall when he went seven-under par to lead the Terrapins.
Kocher played in all 11 tournament last year as well, finishing in the top 10 three times and the top 20 seven times. He tied for fourth at the Big Ten Tournament in April, earning All-Big Ten Tournament honors and earning his third straight NCAA Regionals bid. In the final round of the Big Ten Tournament, he shot a 65 to earn the lowest score of the day.
Maryland will open its 2017-18 season at the The Invitational at The Ocean Course in Kiawah, S.C. Sept. 11-12.
