COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland volleyball team took a break from preseason training and hit the links for the program's third annual golf outing Friday, in conjunction with the Montgomery County Terps.
"We appreciate all the donors, friends of the program and volunteers who put in the time and energy to put this together," head coach Steve Aird said. "The girls love it - it gives them a little bit of a break from preseason, and they love to interact with the people who come to the event and who support their program. The event continues to grow, and it's a wonderful opportunity for us to relax and enjoy and apprectiate the people who make it happen."
Participants joined the team for breakfast before beginning with an 8 a.m. tee time. The Terps and golfers also had lunch at the course.
Maryland will be back in the gym to continue preseason workouts Friday evening. After one more week of training, the team will compete in its annual Red-White Scrimmage next Saturday, August 19 at 7 p.m. in the XFINITY Center Pavilion. Fans can meet the team and coaching staff over hor d’oeuvres and drinks before the instraquad match at 6 p.m. in Heritage Hall. Red-White will be fans first opportunity to see the Terrapins' first-ever top-10 freshman class in action.
The Terps open the 2017 season on Friday, August 26, with the Maryland Invite.
