COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Head coach Kerry McCoy and the University of Maryland wrestling program announced the team’s 2017-18 Big Ten opponents today, which includes matchups against five top-10 NCAA finishers in defending National Champions Penn State, Ohio State, Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska.
Maryland wrestling will take part in the “Big Ten Battle in the Bronx” to open its conference slate this season, battling Rutgers at Yankee Stadium on November 4. The outdoor wrestling match will be the first-ever in the history of Yankee Stadium, while the doubleheader event also features a football game between Rutgers and Maryland.
Maryland will wrestle four B1G opponents at the XFINITY Center, with Iowa, Ohio State, Penn State and Minnesota all slated to make the trip to College Park in the coming year.
The Terps will wrestle five road matches on the year, traveling to face Northwestern, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Illinois in addition to the squad’s early season matchup with Rutgers.
The Big Ten Championships will be hosted in East Lansing, Mich. on the campus of Michigan State University March 3-4. This season’s NCAA Championships will be held March 15-17 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
