|Position:||Sr. Associate AD - Chief Development Officer|
Cheryl Harrison returned to the Maryland athletics department on June 1, 2017 as the Senior Associate Athletics Director and Chief Development Officer. In her new role, Harrison will report to the Vice President for University Relations and the Director of Athletics.
Harrison brings more than two decades of fund raising experience to her new position. She is no stranger to Maryland Athletics as she previously spent 17 years with the department. In her earlier stint, Harrison served in several capacities, starting in 1996 as a major gift fund raiser, assuming additional responsibilities through the years and advancing to Executive Director of the Terrapin Club in 2009. In September 2011 she was named Senior Associate Athletics Director for Stewardship & Community Engagement, and fulfilled that role until 2013. For the last four years, Harrison has been the Director of Gift Planning in the university's central development office.
As an Athletics Department senior staff member, Harrison will collaborate with University Relations and campus constituents on capital campaign planning and other fund raising initiatives. In addition, she will oversee all aspects of planning, implementation, and execution of intercollegiate athletics fund raising and alumni relations programs.
Raised in Baltimore, Harrison graduated from Winston-Salem State University (NC) with a degree in business administration and a concentration in information systems.
