Thursday Recap - Friday Recap

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Maryland track and field team wrapped up a successful weekend of competition at the 123rd Penn Relays Saturday afternoon as the event concluded at Franklin Field.

Lisa Meneau, Chandler Baxter, Kayla Richardson and Micha Powell combined to finish third in the women's 4x200 relay with a time of 1:35.12. The time bests the squad's mark from the qualifying round (1:35.35) as the second fastest team in team history.

Greg Thompson secured a top-five finish in the men's discus championship, throwing a season-best 59.33 meters (194-7) to take fifth in the field. The mark moves Thompson into second all-time in the event, as he now passes Dick Drescher (193-10, 1969) and John Garvey (194-02, 1984) on the all-time Maryland list. The London, England native now sits just one foot, five inches behind Alan Baginski (196-00, 1983) for the all-time record.

The men's 4x400m squad of Kameron Jones, Hazem Miawad, Paul Joseph and Dahri Jahn-Richardson capped off the meet with a third place finish in a season-best 3:09.57. The mark is good for fourth all-time in school history.

Maryland will host its final meet of the 2017 season when the Terps compete at the Kehoe Twilight Meet Friday, May 5.
