COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland women’s basketball team will welcome South Carolina to College Park this November as part of a two-year, home-and-home series, the two schools announced Thursday.
The Terrapins and the 2017 National Champion Gamecocks will tip off at the XFINITY Center on Monday, Nov. 13. Maryland will make a return trip to South Carolina’s Colonial Life Arena in Columbia in November 2018.
“This is a great series for our team and for our program,” head coach Brenda Frese said. “We want to play the best and we want to give our fans the opportunity to watch the best basketball in the country. I know Terp Nation will be in full force.”
This will mark the Terps’ second meeting with the Gamecocks and first since 1997. Maryland won the first meeting, 74-60, in 1997.
Maryland earned an overall record of 32-3 on the season and won both the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles for the third straight year.
The Gamecocks went 33-4 overall this past season and won the 2017 NCAA Championship with a 67-55 victory over Mississippi State in the championship game. The Gamecocks also won their third straight SEC Tournament title in March.
Women’s basketball season ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase additional single game tickets for the South Carolina game before they go on sale to the general public. Season tickets for the 2017-18 season are on sale now and can be purchased HERE.
