Terps Wrap Up Competition at Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Maryland track and field teams concluded competition at the Florida Relays Saturday, with the men’s and women’s relay squads taking center stage at Percy Beard Track.

The women’s 4x200 team of Chandler Baxter, Lisa Meneau, Jewel Smith and Kayla Richardson ran the sixth fastest race in school history, as the quartet combined to go 1:37.52.

On the men’s side, Alex Leto, Brandon Thompson, Dahri Jahn-Richardson and Gaston Assoua finished in 1:27.64 just outside the all-time top-10.

Baxter, Taylor Tucker, Dallyssa Huggins and Alexandra Lucki combined to take sixth in the women’s 1600 sprint medley relay with a mark of 3:58.23. The men’s sprint medley squad of Kameron Jones, Paul Joseph, Hazem Miawad and TJ Bleichner was seventh, crossing the line in 3:24.35.

The men’s 4x400 relay team of Jones, Leto, Bleichner, Jahn-Richardson combined to run 3:13.96 to take 15th in the field.

In the throws, Greg Thompson took fourth in the men’s discus with a toss of 57.14 meters. Claudia Ababio threw 13.64 meters in the shot put.

Maryland will return to the track next weekend at the UVA Quad Meet in Charlottesville, Va.
