COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland was on the wrong end of an offensive outburst Sunday, as Ohio State used 19 hits to cruise to a 22-0 win. The afternoon belonged to the Buckeyes (18-7, 3-0 B1G) who scored 13 runs in a marathon second inning to open up a double digit lead. Maryland drops to 7-23-1 and 0-3 in the Big Ten.
A three-run first inning put the visitors out in front, and they continued to roll in the second as the Buckeye batters put balls in play. OSU would finish with 12 total hits in the inning to eventually go ahead 16-0 before the Terps got the third out.
Maryland managed three hits, while five different pitchers saw action in the circle.
Maryland will look to bounce back this weekend when the team travels to play its second Big Ten series of the year at Michigan State.
