COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland field hockey team was named a National Academic Squad by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Wednesday.
As a team, the Terps posted a GPA above 3.437 to be named a National Academic Team. Individual honorees to the NFHCA National Academic Squad and Distinguished Scholars will be announced next week.
Maryland went 18-5 this year, winning its third straight Big Ten regular season title and advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals. The Terrapins made their 29th NCAA Tournament appearance and 22nd straight, the longest active streak in the country. They finished the season ranked No. 2 in the NFHCA Division I Coaches poll.
