COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Head coach Missy Meharg and the highly-successful Maryland field hockey program welcome transfer student-athlete Sabrina Rhodes to the roster this spring. Rhodes comes to College Park after playing her first two seasons at the University of Delaware.
Rhodes, a native Middletown, Del., won the 2016 NCAA Championship and the 2015 and 2016 CAA Championships with the Blue Hens.
“We are very pleased that Sabrina has joined the Terps,” Meharg said. “Sabrina hails from one of Maryland's premier clubs, H2O and trained with USA Field Hockey in College Park, so we are familiar and confident with her dedication and love for the game. Welcome back to Maryland, Bri.”
"I am very happy to be able to be a part of this amazing and talented Maryland field hockey program,” Rhodes said. “I am lucky to have found a team who welcomed me into their 'family' with such open arms, and I am anxious and excited to start a new journey with them."
Rhodes led her high school team, C. Milton Wright (Md.), to an overall mark of 18-1 and helped the school capture its first-ever state championship in 2013. She was a two-time All-County First Team selection and All-State Honorable Mention, All-Metro First Team and NFHCA All-Region honoree. She led the team in points during sophomore and junior seasons. Rhodes missed her senior season in 2014 with a knee injury.
Rhodes led her club team to four NIT championships while taking first at the Disney Junior Showcase National Championship and Regional Club Championship. She also ran track at C. Milton Wright and was a two-time team Most Valuable Distance Runner and UCBAC 1600m Champion in 2013.
Rhodes comes from a highly-athletic family, as her twin sister, Sydney, also plays at Delaware. Rhodes’ mother, played field hockey at Towson and her father played college basketball and tennis.
