Most recently, the Terps used a balanced effort to win at Nebraska, 93-49, Wednesday night. Shatori Walker-Kimbrough led the way with 19 points, Brionna Jones added 13 and 11 rebounds and Brianna Fraser scored 11. All 12 Terps scored in the win.
Brionna Jones was named Co-Big Ten Player of the Week Monday for the second time in her career and second time this season.
Saturday’s matchup is the sixth all-time meeting between Maryland and Northwestern. The Terps are 5-0 vs. the Wildcats. Most recently, Maryland won 83-62 in the Big Ten Semifinals on March 5. The Terps are 1-0 vs. Northwestern at XFINITY Center. Brenda Frese is 6-0 vs. Northwestern.
The Terrapins are No. 2 in the country in field goal percentage (50.8%), scoring margin (+31.9) and rebounding margin (+16.8). They are third in scoring (90.1), assists (21.2) and fifth in assist/turnover ratio (1.5).
Shatori Walker-Kimbrough is No. 7 on Maryland's all-time scoring list with 1,748 career points. She needs 131 points to pass Shay Doron at No. 6 (1,878). Walker-Kimbrough's career three-point percentage of 45.5% is currently the best in Maryland history ahead of Kristi Toliver's career percentage of 40.8%. Jones is No. 5 on Maryland's rebounding list with 980 career boards. She needs 20 to become the fifth Terp to reach 1,000 career rebounds. She is No. 15 on Maryland's scoring list with 1,500 points.
Head coach Brenda Frese announced the signing of sophomore transfer guard Eleanna Christinaki Thursday. Christinaki comes to College Park after playing her first year and a half at Florida. During her nine appearances with the Gators in 2016-17, Christinaki averaged 17.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.3 three-pointers made per game, as they earned a Top-25 ranking.
