As 2016 comes to a close and the Terps look to 2017, take a look back at Maryland volleyball's year!

The Terps had an exciting offseason leading into the fall. Freshman Gia Milana, who enrolled at Maryland in January, was invited to train with the U.S. Collegiate National Team in Indianapolis.

Sophomore Kelsey Wicinski filmed a commercial for BTN, which you can view here!

The Terps returned to campus to host Maryland volleyball camps last summer to hundreds of campers.

And the Terps had a great time supporting USA Volleyball and Matt Anderson in the 2016 Olympics!

The Terps welcomed the 16th-ranked recruiting class in 2016, the first time in program history Maryland has had a ranked freshman class. Gia Milana and Katie Myers came to the Terps as Under Armour All-Americans.

Maryland had an exciting nonconference slate, competing against three top-25 squads. The Terps started the season winning the Maryland Invite, and senior Ashlyn MacGregor set a career high with 14 blocks and was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.

The Terps picked up a pair of wins at the Kansas Invitational and challenged No. 4 Kansas.

Maryland competed in the nation's capital at the Georgetown Classic, picking up wins over Princeton and Georgetown. The Terps completed the nonconference slate at the Pac-12 Challenge in LA. Maryland took on No. 5 Washington and No. 21 USC and picked up a win over Oklahoma.

The Terps picked up their first Big Ten win of the season over Rutgers on Oct. 22. For the second straight season, Maryland upset a ranked Ohio State squad in the XFINITY Pavilion. The Terps defeated the 19th-ranked Buckeyes in five sets on BTN.

The XFINITY Center Pavilion proved a tough place for opponents this season as the Terps took No. 24 Illinois, No. 16 Michigan, No. 19 Ohio State and RV Purdue to five sets and took a set off No. 10 Penn State.

The Terps signed five athletes to the class of 2017 in Maryland's strongest recruiting class to date. Lexi Alden, Sam Burgio, Samantha Drechsel, Jada Gardner and Erika Pritchard signed with Maryland. Burgio, Drechsel, Gardner and Pritchard are Under Armour All-Americans and Alden is a member of PrepVolleyball's The 150.

The Terps debuted a new motto as Maryland set a Pavilion attendance record with 1,808 fans vs. Penn State. To get your own 'Terps vs. Everybody' shirt, click here.

In a win over Rutgers on Nov. 13, Ashlyn MacGregor became just the third Terp in program history to reach 500 career blocks.

After taking Penn State to four sets and sweeping Rutgers, Gia Milana earned Maryland's first-ever Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors.

The Terps finished the season with a sweep over Indiana, capping seniors Ashlyn MacGregor, Whitney Craigo and Carlotta Oggioni's careers with a win!
After leading the team with 446 kills, a Maryland freshman record, Gia Milana was named All-Big Ten honorable mention and was a unanimous selection to the Big Ten All-Freshman team.
Five Terps were named Academic All-Big Ten, and senior Carlotta Oggioni graduated in December.

Incoming freshman Samantha Drechsel competed in the Under Armour All-America game in Columbus during the NCAA Championship as one of the top 24 high school players in the country.
