Terps Ink Three in 2017 Recruiting Class

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Head coach Diana Cantu and the Maryland women’s golf team has signed three talented players who will be set to compete next fall for the Terps.

The Terps will welcome Charlotte Lafourcade (France), Virunpat Olankitkunchai (Thailand) and Laura Van Respaille (France) to the women’s golf program next season.

"This is one of the most complete classes in the history of the women's golf program at Maryland,” Cantu said. “Coach Simpson and I are very much looking forward to having Charlotte, Virunpat, and Laura make an immediate impact on our program and our quest to compete for Big Ten championships."

Charlotte Lafourcade

Biarritz, France

Lafourcade Highlights:

2016

  • 5th best player in France in the European Golf Rankings
  • 2nd place Annika Invitational Europe (74-70-70)
  • 2nd place Spanish International Strokeplay (72-68-79)
  • Tied 4th Doral Publix Junior Championship

2015

  • Winner Paca Women’s Grand Prix
  • Winner with French Team and second individually at the European Young Masters U-16

2014

Cantu on Respaille: "We are thrilled to announce that Laura will be joining our program next August. Laura is a very smart and confident young lady with an incredible talent for golf. Laura is excited to come to Maryland and compete in the Big Ten.  She trusts the vision of the coaching staff and program which is instrumental in our continued progress.
