Maryland Announces 2017 Signees

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland head softball coach Julie Wright announced today the addition of six future Terrapin softball players who signed National Letters of Intent to play at the University of Maryland next season.

"We are extremely excited to welcome the 2017 class to our Terp family,” said Wright. “This is a group of student-athletes who are athletic, powerful, savvy, and fun! They will bring great energy and passion to our program.  Their families are outstanding people who have raised amazing young women and we couldn't be more proud of them."

The class is Wright’s second as the head coach at Maryland, and features future student-athletes that have achieved All-American, all-state, all-district and all-county honors through their careers on the diamond. Several member of the class earned MVP awards, player of the year honors and served as team captains, while also achieving academic excellence in the classroom.

The group will join a talented young core when they arrive in 2017. Below is a inside look on each signee.

2016 all-state...2016 All-CIF...Two-time All-Sunset League selection...2016 Tournament of Champions MVP...helped team capture Tournament of champions Title...2014 Sunset League Rookie of the Year... Honor Roll...coached by Rob Weil...played club ball for So Cal Athletics coached by Bruce Richardson... team finished second (2015) and fourth (2016) at PGF Nationals.   


"Ryan has tremendous upside and has the work ethic and intelligence to match.  She comes from an excellent travel ball program which afforded her a ton of high level experience.  She understands how to win and will bring that competitive spirit to the circle.  We are very excited to bring Ryan to Maryland."

Two-time First Team All-Met Washington Post selection...Two-time First Team All-County Baltimore Sun selection...Three-time All-County Capital Gazette selection... Capital Gazette Outstanding Academic Student Achiever Award as a junior... ASA Gold National Top 8 finisher...Principals Honor Roll...played travel ball with the Lady Orioles coached by Randy Mohr. 


“Hannah is a powerful hitter who will add depth to our infield.  She is high energy, highly competitive, and absolutely loves the game.  She is Maryland bred through and through.  We are thrilled to add this hometown kid to our family!”

Two-time All-American...First Team All-State and All-Region selection...District 10-5A UIL Offensive Player of the Year...DFW Metroplex First Team outfield...All-district selection...two-time Lovejoy HS offensive MVP...Lovejoy High School Iron Woman Award...Team Captain...broke school records in batting average and stolen bases...coached by Jeff Roberts...also ran track, breaking 4x200 school record and finishing as 4x100 regional finalist...Academic All-District...National Honors Society...played travel ball with DFW Firecrackers coached by Martin and Kim Poole.

Two-time Coliseum League selection...Torrance National Tournament First Team selection...Second Team Pioneer League as a junior...played travel ball with Corona Angels, where she helped squad to back-to-back top-20 premier was a national berth winner in Salinas, Calif. during junior took second in 2016 Arizona qualifier...coached by Kim Howard.
