PRINCETON, N.J. – The Maryland cross country team had four runners place inside the top-25, as the Terps took third in a deep field at the 2016 Princeton Invitational. The Terps totaled 111 points, led by junior Alexandra Lucki’s sixth place overall finish.
In just her second race of the season, Lucki turned in a standout performance crossing the line in 21:35.9 for a top-10 finish. Freshman Kathryn Gearhart was again towards the front of the pack for UMD, taking 11th in the field in 21:44.3.
Maryland’s seniors were again crucial to the overall team finish, as Alexa Squirini (22:04.8) and Sydney Almeida (22:05.3) placed 22nd and 24th in the field. Sophomore Kiernan Keller rounded out the top-five for the Terps, taking 49th overall with a time of 22:35.1.
Iona claimed the team title with 91 points, while the Gaels also had the individual winner in senior Teghan Henderson (21:11.4).
The Terps will return to action on Saturday, October 30 when the team travels to Minneapolis, Minn. for the 2016 Big Ten Championship.
