COLLEGE PARK, Md - The Maryland women’s cross-country team went 2-2 to finish third overall at the Mount St. Mary’s Duals in Emmitsburg, Md., Friday afternoon.
The Terps defeated American, 22-39, and took out Mount St. Mary’s, 16-47, but were unable to overcome Navy and UMBC on the day.
Individually, junior Catherine Sheffo paced the Terps, finishing the course in 18 minutes and 35.65 seconds to finish in 15th place. Sophomore Alexa Squirini followed in 19th position in a time of 18:51.36.
Sophomore Sydney Almeida followed them up with a time of 19 minutes and 5.17 seconds to place 23rd. Other scorers for Maryland included sophomore Charde Barnes (26th, 19:09.19) and sophomore Karah O’Halloran (19:26.94).
Navy topped the group of schools competing, just edging out UMBC.
The Terrapins return to competition on Saturday, Sept 13 at the Navy Salty Dog Invitational in Annapolis.
