COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The national champion Maryland women’s lacrosse team will be honored in a pregame ceremony at the Baltimore Orioles’ game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Camden Yards Saturday.
The Terps and the national championship trophy will be on full display prior to first pitch of the O’s/Rays game which is slated for a 4:05 p.m. start.
Head coach Cathy Reese is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Reese was tabbed IWLCA National Coach of the Year in mid-June.
Maryland boasted a 23-1 record in 2014 en route to a sixth consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference title and its 12th national championship in program history. The Terps outscored opponents 350-191 and recorded wins against 14 squads ranked in the top 20.
Six Terps garnered IWLCA All-America honors, including IWLCA National Midfielder of the Year Taylor Cummings and IWLCA National Defender of the Year Megan Douty. Cummings later became the only sophomore in history to win the Tewaaraton Award on the women’s side.
