14 Terps Earn All-EAGL Honors

Four members of the Maryland gymnastics team earned All-EAGL First or Second Team honors and 12 earned All-EAGL Scholastic Team honors, the East Atlantic Gymnastics League announced Monday afternoon. Stephanie Giameo and Karen Tang were each honored for both.

All-EAGL First Team honors were awarded to the top eight gymnasts on each event in the league and All-EAGL Second Team honors were awarded to the No. 9 through No. 16 gymnasts in each event at the completion of the regular season. Maryland had at least one gymnast make First Team for each event and for the all-around.

Stephanie Giameo was honored on the All-EAGL Vault First Team, Beam First Team and All-Around First Team. Her 9.855 RQS on beam is the second highest in the league. She also posts RQS values of 9.820 on vault and 39.150 in the all-around.

Karen Tang earned a spot on the Bars First Team, Floor First Team and All-Around Second Team. She has an RQS of 9.830 on bars, which ties for the second best in the league. Her floor RQS, 9.870, is also the second highest in the EAGL. She posts a 38.560 RQS in the all-around, which is the highest mark on the All-Around Second Team.

Kathy Tang earned honors on the Vault First Team with an RQS of 9.815 and the Bars First Team with an RQS of 9.800. Ebony Walters was honored on the Floor First Team after posting an RQS of 9.855.

Twelve Maryland gymnasts were named to the All-EAGL Scholastic Team, which honors student-athletes who have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Maryland, Rutgers and New Hampshire honored the most student-athletes with 12 each. The Maryland honorees include:

·      Karen Tang (Senior, Communication)

·      Stephanie Giameo (Junior, Business)

·      Shannon Skochko (Junior, Physiology & Neurobiology)

·      Emily Heller (Junior, Dance)

·      Dani Kram (Junior, Communication)

·      Nikola Chung (Freshman, Letters & Sciences)

·      Nicole Dragon (Freshman, Letters & Sciences)

·      Sarah Faller (Freshman, Letters & Sciences)

·      Leah Slobodin (Freshman, Letters & Sciences)
