STATESBORO, Ga. - The Maryland men's golf team finished strong Sunday in the third and final round of the Schenkel Invitational at the Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga. Freshman Victor Fox continued his strong spring to finish even after the final round.
Fox went two-over par Sunday for a 74. His combined score of 218 (74-70-74) led the Terrapins and was good to tie for 22nd on the leaderboard. Senior Sean Bosdosh finished at an even 72 on the day, taking three strokes off his score of 75 from each of the first two rounds. He wound up tied for 40th.
Sophomore Tom Harris shot a 77 Sunday, which gave him a combined score of 232 (74-81-77). Connor Tendall shot an 80 Sunday and finished with a total score of 235 (78-77-80). Andrew Stein shot a 79 in the final round for a score of 238 (76-83-79).
"Our finish was not what we were hoping for," head coach Jason Rodenhaver said. "We played in a great field this week and we continue to be inconsistent. We have two weeks until our next event. Hopefully we can get in an extensive qualifier and continue to get better for ECU."
The Terrapins were one of 15 teams competing in the 35th annual Schenkel Invitational. They will compete against No. 6 UCF, No. 10 Virginia, No. 14 UAB, No. 15 Texas, No. 28 Kentucky, College of Charleston, Georgia State, NC State, Duke, North Florida, Florida, North Texas, Mississippi and tournament-host Georgia Southern.
Next, Maryland will compete in the Rivers Landing Intercollegiate in Wallace, N.C. April 11-12.
