GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland sophomore midfielder Taylor Cummings has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the conference.
Cummings scored eight goals and added five assists for 13 points in a 2-0 week to keep the Terrapins unbeaten in 2014. In a 14-3 win over Hofstra to start the week, Cummings posted a hat trick and four assists in addition to a steady defensive effort where she helped hold the Pride to only three goals. She also added two ground balls, one caused turnover and five draw controls at Hofstra.
The native of Ellicott City, Md., followed that up with a season-high five goals and racked up seven draw controls in a dominant 19-10 win at No. 6 Duke.
It’s the second straight week Maryland has racked up ACC weekly honors. Last Tuesday, Brooke Griffin was named ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week and Abbey Clipp recorded the top defensive accolade.
Maryland returns home with a game against William & Mary Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
