GREENSBORO, N.C. - Seniors Patrick Mullins and Jake Pace were each named to the All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner John Swofford.

Mullins captured his second straight MAC Hermann Trophy in 2013. The forward posted 19 goals and eight assists in 2013 while leading Maryland to its second consecutive College Cup. A two-time All-ACC First Team selection, he guided the Terps to second straight ACC regular season and tournament championships as a senior captain. He capped his illustrious career with a remarkable 47 goals and 119 points - both the second highest career tallies in Maryland men's soccer annals.  It’s Mullins’ fourth All-ACC Academic honor.

Pace was one of Maryland's top forwards in 2013. The senior captain appeared in 25 games, earning a start at California in the second game of the season. He finished the year with six goals and one assist. He is a two-time All-ACC Academic honoree.

Notre Dame senior forward Harrison Shipp was named the 2013 ACC Men’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

All 12 schools that compete in men’s soccer are represented on this year’s All-ACC Academic Team. Three student-athletes on the team also earned All-America honors - including Mullins -  while three additional players were named Freshman All-Americans. Fourteen members of the squad earned either All-ACC or All-ACC Freshman honors.

The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award was established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports.  Candidates for the award must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their career as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters.

To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
