After sweeping all three of her events at New Hampshire last weekend, Karen Tang was voted EAGL Specialist of the Week.
In arguably her best career performance, Tang posted a pair of 9.900s on vault and floor, both of which were career-high scores. She also notched a 9.800 on bars, which was a season-high mark. Though Maryland fell to New Hampshire, Tang fueled the Terps and helped the team to post season-high scores on bars and vault.
Tang has performed on vault, bars and floor in all four of the Terps’ meets this season and has been a consistently powerful force for Maryland.
Sports Information Directors from each team in the conference vote for weekly EAGL honors. Gymnasts of any class who participated in at least one, but no more than three, events that week can be considered for Specialist of the Week honors. Tang is the first Maryland gymnast to receive EAGL honors this season.
Tang and the Terps return to action Monday Feb. 10 to host EAGL opponents Pittsburgh, Towson and George Washington in a quad meet at 7 p.m. at Comcast Center.
