The South Africa native dropped the first set, but fought back to win the second stanza and ensuing 10-point breaker to take the match. Stanova and Kristina Hovsepyan both had their matches halted after the outcome had been decided.
It’s the Terps second victory over Richmond in as many years. Maryland has also started 2-0 for the second straight season under head coach Daria Panova.
