GREENSBORO, N.C. – Maryland linebackers Cole Farrand and Marcus Whitfield, and wide receiver Stefon Diggs were named to the All-ACC team, as announced Monday by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA).

All three players are honorable mention selections with Diggs (wide receiver) being selected to the team for the second-straight season, but first as a wide receiver. Diggs was selected as specialist last season.

Despite battling through injuries the second half of the season, Farrand (linebacker) has totaled a career-best 84 tackles with 4.5 TFL, a half-sack and one forced fumble. He is averaging 8.4 tackles per game, which ranks eighth in the ACC. In conference action, his average increases to 9.8 tackles per game, the third-best total in the league.

Whitfield (linebacker) emerged as one of the top pass rushers in the ACC. The Germantown, Md., native has a team-best 9.0 sacks, which is tied for fifth in the conference, and he is tied for eighth in the ACC with 14.5 TFL. Whitfield has totaled 50 tackles, three passes defensed and two forced fumbles, along with one fumble recovered and a blocked PAT.

Before suffering a season-ending injury against Wake Forest on Oct. 19, Diggs ranked as one of the top wide receivers in the league. Through seven games, Diggs averaged 83.9 receiving yards a game, which would rank fourth in the conference if eligible, and 17.3 yards per catch. He totaled two 100-yard receiving games this season including a career-high 179 yards receiving against Old Dominion (Sept. 7).
