#22 Terps Dominate at Roadrunner Open

The No. 22 Maryland wrestling team snagged four individual titles to punctuate a run away overall victory at the Roadrunner Open in Fresno Sunday.

The Terps scored 86 total points, taking the team title by a wide margin over second place Stanford and third place Navy. The individual titles added to Geoffrey Alexander’s Cyclone Open crown on Saturday.

Shyheim Brown started the Terps off well, scoring a razor thin decision over Navy’s Joe Locksmith to take the championship at 141 pounds. Brown also won his dual bout on Saturday and is undefeated this season.

No. 3 Jimmy Sheptock then rolled to the title at 184, nothing a 20-3 tech fall victory over James Mannier of Navy. Sheptock is also unbeaten this season.

No. 10 Christian Boley followed up Sheptock with a 10-4 decision over Andrew Reggi of San Francisco.  En route to the title, Boley scored his the 100th win of his Terrapin career.

At heavyweight, No. 8 Spencer Myers continued his strong wrestling, taking a 9-2 decision over Cal Poly’s Spencer Empey. Myers has not lost a match yet this season.

In addition to the titles, the Terps had three competitors take third in their weight classes.

The Terrapins return to action this Friday when Penn comes to town for a dual, with competition slated to begin at 7 p.m. in the Comcast Center Pavilion.
