COLLEGE PARK, Md. – No. 6 Maryland women’s basketball will welcome the defending national champion Connecticut to Comcast Center Friday for a 6 p.m. nationally-televised top 10 matchup.
Tickets are still available at umterps.com. All fans are encouraged to wear red and the first 10,000 fans will receive glow sticks. The game will be shown nationally on ESPNU and ESPN3.com. It can also be heard on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network and CBS 1300 in Baltimore.
The Terps (2-0) are coming off of a road win at NCAA Tournament team South Florida, 78-70, Friday and a home-opening win over Loyola, 89-52, Sunday. Against the Greyhounds, senior Alyssa Thomas had 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Terps. Senior Alicia DeVaughn chipped in 14 points and six rebounds while freshman Shatori Walker-Kimbrough had a strong outing with 10 points and four assists.
Maryland will take on the Huskies (2-0) for the third time in the last year. Last year’s short-handed Terrapin squad lost to Connecticut, 63-47, in a hard fought match in Hartford in December, then fell in the Sweet Sixteen.
After Friday’s matchup, the Terrapins will welcome George Washington to Comcast for a 7 p.m. game Tuesday, Nov. 19.
