Juliet Vongphoumy finished tied for third with a three-round score of 219 to pace the Maryland women’s golf team on the final day of the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate Tuesday.

Vongphoumy posted a 74 on the final 18 holes after securing a 73 and a 72 on Monday. Jessica Gregory recorded her second consecutive solid showing of the 2013 fall season with a 227 (76-74-77) to finish tied for 15th.

Emily Gimpel registered a 77 on the last 18 to record a 30th-place finish and post a 231 for the tournament.

Individually, freshman Alexandria Papell was solid with a 235 (78-79-78) to take 42nd overall. Fellow rookie Panitta Yusabai tallied a 240 (78-83-79) while Heidi Baek was one back from Yusabai with 241 (78-86-77).

"I'm proud of Juliet for having a good tournament," assistant coach Tiffany Prats said. "She was able to put together three solid rounds and had a chance to win coming down the stretch.

"Jess also had another solid tournament finishing second on the team. Her hard work this offseason is paying off and I'm very happy for her."

The Terps finished seventh in the team standings with a 914, three strokes shy of future Big Ten foe Penn State.

"The team will continue to work hard over the next week before heading to FIU," Prats said. "We did a lot of things well this week and we are close to having it all come together."

Maryland returns to action Oct. 20-22 at the Pat Bradley Invitational at Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
