Maryland Players of the Week

September 7, 2008

FIELD HOCKEY – KATIE O'DONNELL (Soph., F, Blue Bell, Pa.)

Katie O'Donnell led second-ranked Maryland this week, scoring six of the team's combined 14 goals in three games this week. She tallied half of the team's eight goals in the rout of No. 8 Old Dominion. The four goals and eight points were both career highs. She closed out the weekend, leading Maryland to another easy win over a top 10 opponent on the road.

O'Donnell took part in three of the Terps' five goals, scoring twice, including the game winner, and assisting on another.

The Terrapins are 4-0 on the season, defeating No. 6 Penn State, 1-0, to start the week.

MEN'S SOCCER – CASEY TOWNSEND (Fr., F, Traverse City, Mich.)

Townsend netted his first career goal on Friday night in a 3-0 route of Hartford. The freshman forward helped seal a 2-0 weekend when he scored the opening goal against Davidson on Sunday night in a 4-1 win at Ludwig Field.
